Website Development Intern

Lora DiCarlo is seeking an efficient and organized Website Development Intern to join our growing team. This position is for 15-20 hours a week and is located in Bend, Oregon. The internship is for an initial 3-month period, with an option to extend the program if suitable for both parties. 

In this position, you will interact with the company’s marketing team to evolve our digital presence via our ecommerce store/website, B2B website/store, and email platform. The Website Development Intern works under the direction of the Director of Digital Marketing.

Responsibilities: 

  • Content Management: Receive web page mockups from the Creative Director and Digital Marketing Director and build out pages within BigCommerce

  • Track and manage content changes to current site and conduct quality assurance checks

  • Learn about ecommerce by researching the various Plug-ins and Apps that BigCommerce requires to support the website functionality

  • Assist in the optimization of the website and user experience

  • Be at the forefront of the development of a new website, product launches and innovative ecommerce experiences

  • Troubleshoot website issues

  • Continue to learn, grow, and help us take on brand new challenges while getting hands-on experience at a local Bend startup

Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform basic software engineering skills such as reading and manipulating code (HTML, CSS, Javascript) 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program or just graduated in Computer Science, or related technical field

  • Have an understanding of software engineering tools and process (i.e. debugging, reporting, etc.)

  • Ability to identify, mitigate and resolve potential risks

  • Ability and desire to learn and troubleshoot

  • Proficient in Google Suite Apps 

  • Experience with Shopify, BigCommerce, Wordpress, or Klaviyo is a plus

Learning Objectives and Skills Development:

In this position you will learn how to manage and apply best practices to website development and content management systems. You will gain experience as the liaison between the marketing team and development team and be at the forefront of work products that provide great user experiences in the B2C and B2B ecommerce industries. 

Additional training and mentorship can be provided on systems, software and tools used to execute the daily and weekly tasks assigned to you. 

You will also be included in departmental meetings and exposed to the overall marketing strategy for the brand. You will have the opportunity to contribute ideas to the business as a whole, and participate with cross-functional teams.
